Our ethos is that culture eats strategy for breakfast. We want to create a family environment for both staff and the children we care for. Positive outcomes for children, happy staff, and outstanding Ofsted ratings are what we aim for. We put this philosophy into action by making sure our values shape everything we do, from each interaction to every decision.

Practically, we provide an individually tailored therapeutic care package to our children. We create a therapeutic care plan and regularly assess and update it, taking into account feedback from our children as well as an independent psychologist. For example, after implementing individualised care plans, one child reported feeling more confident in their ability to manage daily tasks independently. We aim to help our children gain confidence and develop the social and life skills that they will need when they leave care and live independently.

We provide a safe and psychologically secure environment that offers structure and consistency to our children, in a homely, nurturing, and calm setting. Our team has received training in the PACE/Kim Golding approach to therapeutic care, enabling them to provide empathetic, accepting, curious, and playful support for our children. Ongoing training ensures our staff stay skilled in therapeutic approaches, enabling them to respond effectively to the evolving needs of our children.

• Provide an open and honest environment that promotes and encourages the building of mutual respect and positive relationships between children and adults.
• Individually tailor care and education plans and ensure that the collaborative practices between care and educational staff provide our children with consistency and security.
• Focus on our children’s strengths and abilities and use them a​s a basis to create achievable targets, while also considering their difficulties.
• Protect children by balancing risk to prevent harm while encouraging healthy growth and development.
• Enable our children to explore past events, the present, and their future possibilities in a safe and supportive environment.
• Help children understand their behaviour and its impact, encouraging positive change.
• Encourage effective communication and productive collaboration among all involved, ensuring children stay the focus of every care plan and review.
• Work with our children to help them identify what is a safe and appropriate relationship.
